GUTS BUILD Barbarian Build - Dark and Darker









Guts build. Stack mad agility/dex/action speed, you wanna get to around 20 agility. and idealy your str to 40 though for the build to start working agility/dex/action speed is more important. the zweihander has very very slow swing speed so that agility/dex/action speed really is what makes this build. you do not need weapon dmg you do not need strength to start this build any green zwei with idealy +3 agility will do. you do not need damage because you are not going for one shot not till you are fully decked (40 str ect.) what makes this build work is youre ability to dip and dodge and get out of your enemies swinging range and and still be able to punish with a headshot because zweis reach is ridiculous. beware doorways and tight hallways as this is very tough for zwei. heres a tip if an enemy is baiting you to the doorway and will not fight you till you push doorway what you do is act like you are gunna swing on them wip your mouse up or whereever you can without out clashing and then wip mouse down and swing again and then wip back up what you are trying to do is cover the option of them pushing without putting yourself in danger while you get through your combo so you can use the poke once you have the poke use it to push through the doorway once through if you have enough room to swing go for it but if they hug one of your sides or the wall and dont let you walk any further than just past the doorway what you do is rightclick and push youre right hip into them you want them to be on the bottom right of your screen or so far right that you cant see them this will always be a body shot and if you hit them with the poke they are dead unless they are a fighter. the rage and achilies make it easy to chase down squishies when chasing wizards or ranger dont be afraid to start punching them in the back your achilies with rage will kill them in 3-5 swings if the ranger is doing spear build whatchout cause they will fuck on you if they arent already low or you miss your punch. perks. morale boost because zwei excels at 1v2 and 1v3ing that and it saves you so much meds oh and also if you are oneshot and they are oneshot and you both hit eachother at the same time you will ALWAYS win as barbarian with morale boost the tick rate lets you even hit them after they have alraedy hit you and you should be dead but the heal and damage from you and youre enemy line up on the same tick even if you hit them after. no one knows about this its super op pretty much makes you win every close fight. iron will because you dont want to have to do anything other than rush wizards clerics and warlock if you are put in a position where you cant rush a cleric wizard or warlock it is a position that sucks for you. with this perk only decked out casters will be a problem (and not even that much) and i take robust and berserker you can swap out berserker for savage if you dont have a shirt but idealy you want to run berserker and robust because they work well with eachother and its another way to ensure you win close fights you are slow even with this agility a rogue can stab you like 5 times before your second swing comes out robust helps you survive so your second swing needs to kill them a third swing is decades away berserker makes the second swing always hurt alot more because of the damage you tanked on entry. i will update and add more to this build as a remember more strats i use and explore more options.

thank you guys for reading my fucked up grammar and spelling. i want to go into the fighter match up for this build. its the most fun match up but also the most difficult. if you are fighting 50% phys reduc or less fighter its pretty easy hit him once or twice without being hit yourself (most effective with achilies) then all in and tank whatever he throws at you but DONOT miss or you will die. if you are fighting a 60% and up fighter its really hard. you pretty much never all in. you will think hes about to die after you hit him 4 times in the head i promise you he is not. the whole fight do not tank damage to get close once you are within melee range of fighter its hard to get out of it without dying are being below 50% hp. and then he will chase with throwing axes or shoot you with a crossbow. instead play to your range if they are heater shield and falcion this is pretty easy. now the goal here is different than most barbarian match ups do not w and just try to hit him in the head more than he hits you in the head you will lose everytime even with armor pen its pretty unlikley that you win fighting this way. what you must do is find that range where you can headshot or even body shot but have enough room to dodge his counter attack. zwei has wayyy more reach than longsword so you should use this in that match up as well just watch out for parry the left click swings are SUPER telegraphed wide as fuck and incredibly easy to parry so use right click gives you a good body shot and a chance to hit him in the head. they can still parry rightclick but it is harder and you can mix them up by left clicking and then right clicking they thing you are going to swipe from left to right so they will look left to parry and then they get slapped on there side they will most likely wip there mouse to the other direction and this is where you go for the headshot. you can also wip your mouse up when starting to rightclick to make it look like a side swing. just keep this in mind you are prolly gunna have to hit this dude in the head 8 times before he dies (85% phys reduc) this gives you a good idea on why not to all in him you are not gunna hit him 8 times in the head with zwei before he hits to 3-4 times.
as allways i will update this more as i remember stuff and explore new strats
EDIT: patch 15: my friends i have returned somethings have changed achillies is now swappable with warcry makes it hard to get a second swing when they run from you but if they must fight you you will have 230hp+ with warcry rage. iron will is still good enough to bring. and this build is easier than ever to do now because getting +10 str and +9 agil is possible without spending 1k+ gp.
here is another match up GUTS BUILD vs felling axe if you land the first swing on his entry you win. when he rushes you try to hit him in the head before he reaches you if his misses (because he is slowed from taking dmg) and yours lands you win. if you hit and he hits aim for the head while creating distance just dont miss your chance to swing getting your dps off is more important than distance but if you manage both you will get out of his attack range because of your agility and you are slowing him when you smack him then all you gotta do is hit him on entry again in the head before he reaches you and you win. this also works for quarterstaff match up just not as well.
